Exports Surge, the United States Retains Position as Vietnam's Largest Market
Vietnam's exports to the United States market are seeing strong growth at the year's end, particularly in key sectors such as textiles, footwear, furniture, machinery, electronics, and seafood.
According to the Vietnam Trade Office in the United States, while other exporting countries such as Bangladesh, India, and other ASEAN nations have reported low or negative growth in textile and footwear exports to the U.S., Vietnam's exports in these categories are performing well, with some items even achieving double-digit growth.
As of September 2024, statistics show that 13 export categories from Vietnam to the U.S. have reached over $1 billion each, with three categories exceeding $10 billion.
The category with the highest export turnover is computers, electronic products, and components, reaching $17.32 billion, followed by machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts with $15.5 billion. Textiles hold the third position, with more than $12 billion in exports.
With the results achieved in the first 10 months, this marks the fourth consecutive year that trade between the two countries has surpassed the $100 billion mark.

Vietnam Maintains Top Position in Rice Exports to the Philippines
In the first 10 months of 2024, the Philippines imported 2.91 million tons of rice from Vietnam, accounting for more than 79% of the country's total rice imports of 3.68 million tons. This figure is significantly higher than the same period in 2023 and exceeds the Philippines' total rice imports for the entire year of 2023.
Thailand ranks second with 457,673.28 tons, making up 12.4%, followed by Pakistan with 162,369.48 tons (4.5%), and Myanmar and India at 114,766.75 tons and 22,039.04 tons, respectively. Given this growth trend, it is forecasted that the total rice imports of the Philippines for the full year of 2024 will exceed 4 million tons, potentially reaching 4.5 million tons.
The Vietnam Trade Office in the Philippines reported that Vietnam remains the Philippines' largest rice export partner. However, for sustainable rice exports to the Philippines, businesses must prioritize maintaining and securing Vietnam's number one position in the market.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam currently exports around 35 categories of products to the Philippine market.
